Sriracha Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 2-3 TBSP Olive oil
  • 1 Small Yellow or sweet onion Sliced
  • 4 Cloves of Garlic Minced
  • 2 Cups Tomato Sauce
  • 3 TBSP Steak sauce or Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 TBSP Black Strap molasses
  • 1 TBSP Maple Syrup
  • 1/4 Cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 1/8 tsp Each of Ground Cloves, Ginger, Nutmeg & Allspice
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Granules
  • 2 tsp Habenero Hot Sauce See Notes
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Salt or more to taste

Instructions
 

  • Using a medium sauce pan saute sliced onions in olive oil till soft, than add minced garlic and saute for two more minutes on low heat.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients accept for the cayenne pepper. Simmer on low heat for approximately 30 minutes. Add salt to taste.
  • This barbecue sauce is pretty spicy, it's best to taste the sauce before adding the cayenne pepper.

Notes

  1. I used my own homemade habanero hot sauce but you can find it at most grocery stores. Always check the label for added sugars, sodium and preservatives, all are completely unnecessary for a delicious hot sauce.
  2. If you like to buy your barbecue sauces two of my favorite brands are Primal Kitchen and Tessemae. Both of these brands are not only organic, most of there sauces do not have any added sugar or preservatives. If you are on a Whole30, check labels because some of these sauces do have honey and/or maple syrup.
