Drizzle olive oil into pan, add chopped onions, sauté till onions are softened. Add minced garlic and sauté for one minute, set aside.
Bring water to boil in a medium saucepan, add pasta. Boil until pasta is al-dente. Watch closely because if bean pasta cooks to much, it will be very starchy and to creamy. Rinse pasta in cold water, this stops the cooking and prevents the pasta from sticking together.
Place pasta back in saucepan, add all other ingredients: onion mixture, 1.5 cups broth, green peas, basil, oregano, & chopped chard. Simmer until green peas are cooked and chard is wilted, this shouldn't take longer than 5 minutes. Also add more broth if needed
I like to add a couple tablespoons butter, it adds a creamy delicious flavor. Last but not least add salt and pepper to taste.
This pasta dish has a lot of flavors, so you can serve it with a simple protein such as grilled chicken or cooked shrimp . As you can see in the picture, I choose to serve it with large shelled shrimp sprinkled with some simple spices.
