1-2Garlic Heads Roasted See previous blog post for directions on how to roast garlic.
3/4CupRaisins
1.5CupHot Water
2TBSPSweet Onion
1/2 CupBalsamic Vinegar
1.5CupsPlain Tomato Sauce
2TBSPWorcestershire Sauce
1/4CupUnsweetened Applesauce
1.5 TBSPApple Butterapple jelly would work well to and it may be easier to find in the grocery store
1 tspSea Salt
1/2tspBlack pepper
1tspYellow mustard
Instructions
Soak raisins in hot water for 15 minutes. Soak diced sweet onions or shallots in balsamic vinegar for 15 minutes. Soaking the onions and raisins helps make a much smoother sauce.
Place the tomato sauce, worcestershire sauce, s&p, apple butter, applesauce, yellow mustard in the blender. Add the raisins and onion along with the hot water and balsamic vinegar to the blender. Blend on how high until sauce is completely blended and smooth, as seen in the picture below.
This recipe makes approximately 2.5 Cups. If you have leftovers you could freeze it. If you choose this preservation method, be sure to leave 1-2 inches of headspace otherwise the jar may break once your sauce freezes.
I did not have anymore freezer space this year therefore I preserved it by using the water bath method.
