Chocolate Brownies Made With Browned Butter & Gluten Free Flours
For the first time in four years my husband and I were able to have a short getaway for our anniversary. This was a big accomplishment for the both of us since I had been sick over our previous three anniversaries. Someday I will write my story in detail in hopes that it will provide hope for people that are dealing with similar health issues that I had. Now onto the fun part, we went glamping, a first for the both of us. The tent was quite big with a nice sized bed, a small table with chairs and our favorite part a small deck in the front with comfy chairs. We took food for all our meals and a grill was provided. I took a tablecloth and used it on the picnic table were we had both of our meals.
Our first meal was an early afternoon lunch and it included homemade gluten free chocolate brownies. My mom used to make a few different desserts using browned butter. If one has smelled browned butter, it’s quite delightful. I decided to make browned butter icing the star of this dessert. I added it to the brownies and used my mom’s recipe for browned butter icing, it’s a family recipe so I’m not planning on sharing it at this time. A few years ago my mom also made a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache which inspired the idea of making a simple ganache with these brownies. Search Pinterest for a simple chocolate ganache recipe, it’s a quick and easy to make to add to one’s favorite brownie recipe.
Thank you for joining me today here at Emma’s Daily Bread. I hope everyone has a beautiful & healthy day!
Chocolate Brownies
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Cacao Powder
- 1/3 Cup Butter
- 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/4 Cup Coconut Milk Or any Milk of Choice
- 1/8 tsp Salt
- 1/2 Cup Coconut Sugar
- 2 Eggs Beaten
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8×8 dish with coconut oil or butter.
- In a medium size bowl mix cacao powder, baking soda and salt. In another medium size bowl add coconut sugar, set both bowls aside.
- Using stovetop, melt butter in a small saucepan, keep on low-medium heat til browned. Keep a close eye on the butter because it burns quickly. Once it's perfectly browned remove the saucepan from the heat.
- Using a whisk mix the browned butter with the coconut sugar. Add eggs one at a time and mix well after each egg using a whisk. Lastly add vanilla and mix.
- Add butter/sugar mixture to cacao and mix well. Place brownie batter to baking dish. This batter is thick so use a spatula to even out the batter.
- Bake for 20 minutes or till toothpick inserted in middle of brownie comes out clean.
- I added my mom's recipe for brown sugar icing (I haven't shared this recipe because it's a family recipe) or a chocolate ganache would be really good to.
- I have a reel for this recipe on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook all @emmasdailybread
